Mike Hall
Cape Breton
Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, Mike Hall was raised in a very musical household where visits with musical friends were common. His father, Sean, having strong Acadian roots exposed Michael to traditional music from birth. His interest in music was noticeable at a young age and today has blossomed into one of the most dynamic fiddlers of his generation. One of Mike’s main influences was Alex “Lewis” MacDonald, an Inverness County fiddler who lived in Saint John. Since making Cape Breton his primary home base back in 2001, Mike has been featured on six commercial recordings including four of his own; A Legacy not to be Forgotten in 2009, Dance Hallin 2012, Digging Deep and Greetings From Us in 2020. He has traveled throughout North America, and in May of 2018 added International exposure to the list by touring with Troy MacGillivray and Marion Dewar in Denmark. Mike is a regular favourite at dance halls, pubs and ceilidhs throughout Cape Breton Island.
Marion Dewar
Cape Breton
Marion Dewar’s family is full of music. Her mother, Jean Fraser, was a mainstay in Eastern Nova Scotia. Her son Allan plays piano, touring and recording with a variety of fiddlers while her daughter Joan was a member of the youth fiddlers who performed for the Pope in 1984. Marion has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe with Jerry Holland and recorded with Dougie MacDonald.
